November 2, 2020: Alas Dance Company performs “I Will Be Your Mirror” and “Bird Women,” followed by a panel discussion including Alas Dance Company's Jessica Figueroa, University of Houston Associate Professor of Dance's Teresa Chapman, Shizu Yasuda of Ad Deum Dance Company, and Houston Fringe Festival and The Pilot Dance Project's Adam Castaneda.
November 3, 2020: Performance Artist Brittani Broussard performed her piece “Unwanted Wants II,” followed by a panel discussion including Featured Artist Brittani Broussard, Houston-based artist, writer, curator and speaker Jeanette "Joy" Harris, and Houston Fringe Festival and The Pilot Dance Project's Adam Castaneda.
November 4, 2020: Choreographer Brittany Bass showed her piece “Mischievous Tendrils,” followed by a panel discussion including Featured Artist Brittany Bass, Dancers Somya Gupta and Marcela Acosta, Dancer, Choreographer and Studio Owner, David Monroe, and Houston Fringe Festival and The Pilot Dance Project's Adam Castaneda.
November 5, 2020: This evening consisted of three works by Pilot Dance Project affiliated artists: Ashley Horn, Lori Yuill and Adam Castaneda. Each piece was followed immediately by an artist panel, consisting of the choreography, dancers involved in the pieces, and additional colleagues.
November 6, 2020: This afternoon consisted of two works, “Solo for Double Bass” performed by Thomas Helton and “Farewell” performed by Relative Dissonance, with members Thomas Helton on Double bass, Soprano Danielle Reich, Aaron Bielish on viola, Danny Kamins on bass clarinet and Hsin-Jung Tsai on piano. An artist panel concluded the performance streams, consisting of Thomas Helton, Danielle Reich and Aaron Bielish.
November 7, 2020: This afternoon, musical trio Aurum Son, consisting of Sonia Flores on bass and vocals, James Murphy on flute and Wilmer Gomez on percussion performed a set of five songs, including: Brown Boy, Warrior, Amaranth, Red Clover, Lotus Fire Eating Woman. The performance was followed by an artist discussion including band members James Murphy and Sonia Flores.
November 7, 2020: Houston Fringe Festival presented “Storytelling on the Fringe” this evening. Created out of a want to expand the festival’s programming beyond the performance arts, this evening will feature a new reading series with an emphasis on elevating speculative fiction and poetry. Each entry was adjudicated by a panel of writers representing three Houston-based literary organizations: WriteSpace, DeFunkt Magazine, and Texlandia. Writers included: Margo Stutts Toombs, JT Morse, Kamil Khan aka "The Khancept", Stephanie Saint Sanchez and Reyes Ramirez. The winner of this year’s Storytelling on the Fringe as selected by representatives from WriteSpace, DeFunkt Magazine, and Texlandia is "The Latinx Paradox with Joaquin Salvatierra", by Reyes Ramirez.
November 8, 2020: This afternoon, Houston Fringe Festival showcased "Dignity in Death," by Choreographer Loren Holmes on November 8 at 3pm as part of the Houston Fringe Festival's virtual performances. This event was streamed on Facebook Live as well as Zoom, followed immediately by an artist panel consisting of Loren Holmes, Featured Dancer Stormie Jones, and Dancer/Choreographer Tiara Blake.
